Florida governor vetoes pro-life bill
Governor Charlie Crist vetoed an ultrasound bill in June that would have allowed abortion-minded women in Florida the chance to see an image of their preborn child. HB 1143 would have also banned taxpayer funding of abortions. This is the fourth time an ultrasound bill has been defeated.
More than 63,000 people contacted the governor’s office in the days leading up to the veto, with 36,104 of them asking him to please sign the measure.

Career adjustment: Chiropractor to author
There are times in life when you know God is moving you in a new direction, but you may be unsure of where He is leading you. This is what kept coming to my mind when I recently interviewed Boca Raton chiropractor, and now author, Mark Adduci. Great Commission coming to ONE place
In his youth, Paul Kantorski spent eight years preparing to become a Catholic priest within the Maryknoll order; he planned to continue their almost 100-year mission to reach out to those around the world most in need. When his life’s path changed, little did he imagine that God would bring the mission field to him.
Men and women from almost every conceivable tribe and tongue are detained on immigration charges at airports and ports around the country, only to end up here in South Florida at the Broward Transitional Center.

A journey through domestic violence
Domestic violence is a term we have all heard before. However, with domestic violence growing into one of Americas major health concerns, it may be surprising to learn that not only is it the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44 in the U.S., but there are only 1,500 shelters for battered women – compared to almost 4,000 shelters available for animals.

Partners International equips women
When Kim Kerr went to India in 2000 for the first time and saw the plight of persecuted women there, she came home a changed individual.

Kerr is Director of Partners International Women – a global ministry that works to create and grow communities of Christian witnesses, partnering with God’s people in the least Christian regions of the world.

LIVES ON FIRE
Fighting fires isn’t easy work, but some rescue workers get fired up about serving people in need.
A typical day in the life of a fire rescue worker is anything but ordinary.
From blazing infernos and car accidents to heart attacks and fall victims, firefighters and paramedics never quite know what to expect when the next call comes in.
Finding God's blueprint for your life
While the world fixes its gaze on the New York Stock Exchange, the U.S. Department of Treasury or the Obama administration to give them hope, a large number of South Floridians are discovering how their lives intersect with God’s purposes. They are not waiting for the future to happen to them – they are taking control.
“You’re called to ‘your calling’ whether it’s a recession or the economy is booming,” says Photographer Curtis Copeland, who recently completed a Blueprint for Life course.
10 years of Good News
When my wife and I realized that God had called us to start a Christian community newspaper back in 1999, we did what everyone else did back then. We went to the library.
We checked out books on how to publish a newspaper, because the internet wasn’t as overloaded with information as it is today. It’s hard to imagine that four months later the first issue of The Good News was on the streets. And now 10 years have gone by. This newspaper is a true testimony of what God can do.
