Bruce Charlebois came to Parkland 20 years ago with a dream in mind: to open a school for baseball. Drafted by the New York Yankees in 1987, Charlebois had a career ending knee injury. The injury may have ended his career but not his love nor devotion for the sport. His passion for the sport led him to start a baseball camp, South Florida Baseball School (SFBS), for kids that has developed into a school that would train kids for college and even the Major League Baseball Draft. The month of May started out just as any other month for local sophomore, Elochukwu Eze. Eze, who moved here from Nigeria two years ago, is a student at Calvary Christian Academy and a starter for the Eagles Basketball team averaging six points and 12 rebounds a game. When Lightning Strikes

It is no secret that Florida is the lightning capital of the world. From 2005-2014, a total of 322 people died to lightning strikes in the U.S. and Florida lead the number of deaths with 47, according a study by Vaisala Inc. Governor Scott Signs Pastor Protection Act into Law

Churches, religious organizations and individuals may not be required to perform any marriages that would violate their conscience or be compelled to use church property for such ceremonies if they would violate their sincerely held religious beliefs now that Florida’s Pastor Protection Act has passed and been signed into law by Governor Rick Scott on March 10. Surfers For Autism Raises Awareness

In 2008, on a sandy beach in Deerfield, a handful of surfers congregated with one goal in mind, to raise awareness for autism and give kids with autism a fun experience.
