Fort Lauderdale’s CCA Beats #1-Ranked Team in the Nation

The Calvary Christian Academy (CCA) Eagles baseball program has had a strong first half of their 2021 season. With a current record of 12-2 (as of 3/29), Calvary’s early-season highlights include winning the LaGrange Toyota Invitation in early March in Georgia with a walk-off hit in the seventh inning, and a bounce back 8-2 win over IMG Academy (Bradenton), ranked No. 1 in the nation by Perfect Game, after falling to the Ascenders 2-0 the week before.

The CCA Eagles’ Winning Team Roster

winCalvary’s locker room and offense is led by Jonathan Lane, who has attended CCA since first grade. The infielder leads the Eagles offense in nearly every statistical category. Defensively, Andy Painter and Irv Carter lead Calvary’s battery of pitchers in their senior seasons. Andy will start and end his high school career at CCA while Irv joined the team in his sophomore year. CCA has a five-game homestand before playing their last four on the road. CCA hosts the FHSAA Class 3A District 13 tournament April 26-29 and hope to make their fifth consecutive appearance at the FHSAA State Championships at the end of May.
