Chris Tomlin’s Worship Night in America Brings Top Christian Music Lineup to Miami

CT_ImageContemporary Christian Artist Chris Tomlin is bringing Worship Night in America to Miami at the American Airlines Arena at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19 featuring musical guests Matt Redman, Steven Curtis Chapman, Matt Maher, Phil Wickham and Bryan & Katie Torwalt. Louie Giglio, founder of the Passion Movement, and Bestselling Author Max Lucado will also speak at the event.

Now in it’s second year, the Worship Night in America tour performed in five major cities in it’s inaugural year, uniting people across the country for a time to worship and pray for the nation.

“It’s obvious that we’re in an incredibly volatile time of just so much turmoil,” said Tomlin, “and I think it’s in that moment that we want to stand as a church, lead out and pray and say God we need you.”

While there are many different streams within the church, Tomlin points out that one of the things that unites us is our songs. “I feel that God put it on my heart to bring people together and bring churches together to worship God with some of the greatest songwriters around and also to collectively pray for our nation, our leaders, our pastors, our families and our nation. Prayer is greater than politics and that’s the place of the church… to pray and ask God for his blessing and his goodness.”

Good Good Father

Tomlin recently closed out the 2016 K-Love Fan Awards in Nashville with a performance of his number one single “Good Good Father,” which was honored as Song of the Year.

When asked about the song, Tomlin admitted, “That song has connected with people in such a powerful way that it just blows my mind and I’m honored to be a part of that in people’s lives. I think deep, deep down everybody wants to know that there is a perfect father and Max is going to talk about what it means to call God father at Worship Night in America. That’s a powerful thing, a game changer that’s earthshaking. When they asked Jesus how to pray, he said pray like this, ‘Our Father who art in heaven.’ The first thing he mentions is God as a father, and he could have mentioned any other word: creator, supreme being, all powerful, holy. He said father. And that’s revolutionary to the world that you can know God in that way. That thing that defines you the most is that you are a loved son of God. You are a loved daughter of God. I’m loved by God. I’m loved by a perfect father has resonated with people. It resonates with me. It resonates with my little girls. It resonates from four years old to 90 years old. I think everybody grasps that idea and it’s a powerful thing.”

While so many people are reeling from the news of terror attacks and tragedy, I asked Tomlin if anyone ever questioned him about God’s goodness.

“If God is good how come there is evil is a big question and it’s a real question in this life,” he replied. “I think it takes understanding that we live in a very fallen world, a broken world, and yet God has made a way. Because this world has an enemy that wants to kill you, destroy you and take you down. That’s his whole plan every day is to ruin your life, and yet there is a God who says, ‘I want to give you life and life to the fullest, and here, I’ve given you my son as a way for you to overcome any kind of sin, overcome any kind of hardship; even in the midst of the deepest, deepest pain, I’ve given my Son for you.’ And to know that, to understand that, to start grasping the grace of God is the greatest power in the world.”

Together

With 15 number one radio singles and a long list of awards, Chris Tomlin is among the most well-known and influential artists in contemporary Christian music.  But during Worship Night in America he will be joined onstage by several friends who share the same heart and passion.

“I think what people will find interesting about this night that no one is expecting is that there are no opening bands,” said Tomlin. “All those people you see on that poster will all be on the stage together for the whole night singing the songs together. So it’s very powerful and different in that way.”

Max Lucado and Louie Giglio are also speaking. “I wanted two people who have really shaped a lot of the nation and the world in how they view God,” said Tomlin. “Obviously those two have, and they have a great voice to stand there in uncertain times and say here is the North start; here is the compass; here is where we’re going; here is what the church is about. So it’s going to be really amazing having their voices as well.”
