On September 26th and 27th, audiences are in for a treat, as the play The Orphan Train by Aurand Harris will be performed at The Broward Center for the Performing Arts at 8:00pm. An elegant pre-show dinner will take place before both Friday and Saturday night performances at the new Huizenga Pavilion at 6:00pm. All of the event proceeds will benefit 4KIDS of South Florida, a local agency that is making its name in the world of foster care as a “national model” for kids in crisis.

This highly charged stage production combines music, movement, film, and text, taking the audience on a ride through the lives of orphan children looking for a place to belong. The Orphan Train parallels a fascinating part of our nation’s history with the lives of modern day foster children in south Florida. The production tagline, “A past story about a present problem” highlights a deeper message – that the train keeps coming today with more than a thousand kids entering foster care in Broward alone last year.
