1) “I will never forsake you.”

This happened so fast that I shouted very loudly, “Wow!” because I was really blown away by it and stayed in a meditative state until I arrived home that evening.

The next day my son and I awoke early and had breakfast. We headed to the airport with a pilot and his son for an airplane ride down to Key West. The plane was fueled up and all four of us boarded the plane. The pilot went through his checklist, started the engines and off we went to our destination. Our flight plan was to head down the east coast for the scenic route. The sights were beautiful. Not a cloud in the sky. It was a picture-perfect day in South Florida.

My son has always wanted to be a pilot, so that was one of the reasons we had planned this trip. My son was in his glory riding in front with the pilot. He had his headset on listening to the pilot communicate with air traffic control. He was also communicating with the pilot as we were flying.

Twenty minutes into the flight, my spirit was telling me that something was wrong. I turned to the pilot’s son and said, “Your dad is scaring me!” He then assured me that everything was fine, but we were losing altitude and it was frightening. A few seconds later, I tapped my son on the back to have him ask the pilot what was wrong. The pilot then turned around very calmly and stated that we had lost the rear engine. A few seconds later, a loud alarm went off and a bright red light on the control panel started to blink. I looked out the window to my right and saw that we were getting very close to the water. Seconds later, the plane crashed into the water and flipped upside-down. At the time of impact, I remember the ocean water hitting the front windshield and the pilot’s son being thrown into the front of the plane.

At impact, I was trapped upside down by my seatbelt. I screamed for my son to see if he was okay and, thankfully, he responded. From my seat, I could see the pilot’s son trying to kick open the plane door as it filed up with water. There was a moment where I felt that we were all going to drown, but a second later, what I believe to be an angel arrived and helped me get out of my seat belt. Then, the plane door opened up and we all got out alive.
God used that miracle to reinforce how awesome, powerful, wonderful, and faithful he really is. I wake up each day so much more grateful. His words to me the night before were all I would ever need to really solidify my relationship with him. God is always speaking to us if we are just willing to listen.
