Local Church Honors Homeless Couple with Wedding Ceremony

Kat and Sal WeddingOn Saturday, July 16th, Kat and Sal Taylor said “I do.” While all weddings are special, this one felt different. It tugged at the heart a little more. Why? Because Kat and Sal are part of the homeless community here in Fort Lauderdale, and on that Saturday, they were able to celebrate their love with a beautiful wedding ceremony at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, surrounded by friends.

Kat and Sal have been together for 16 years, and through a series of unexpected circumstances, they found themselves homeless. They have been involved with the benevolence ministry and community at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church for a while, so when they expressed their desire to get married, the church jumped at the opportunity to make that happen. Through the generosity of many, they were able to provide a suit for Sal, a wedding dress, shoes and bouquet for Kat, a wedding cake, a gift card to the Olive Garden and a room at the La Quinta. Kat got ready in the bride’s room, and Tommy DeRosalia, a Benevolence Ministry leader at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, performed the ceremony. Congratulations, Kat and Sal!
