Mission United Gives Backpacks to Families of Veterans

p3-mia-and-emily-clavelUnited Way of Broward County’s Mission United distributed 370 backpacks filled with pens, paper, notebooks, glue and much more to children of military families in Broward County during a Veterans Family Expo at the Jean & David Colker Center in Fort Lauderdale on August 4. During the expo, veterans received additional information on local organizations that service veterans and their families such as Consolidated Credit, Team RWB and Broward Youth Coalition. In addition, a local barber, Tony Marhefka, gave away free haircuts to the families.

Mission United is a critical program supporting US military service members, veterans and their families in Broward County by helping them re-acclimate to civilian life. Key focus areas include employment services, legal assistance, financial services, education, health and housing support.
