More Than 50 Boats Participate in Fish For Hope KDW Tournament

After weeks of rain the sun was shining on Place of Hope’s Third Annual Fish for Hope KDW Tournament on June 9. The fundraising event welcomed 53 boats and 40 sponsors to Sailfish Marina. Competitors fished not only to win fantastic prizes but also to support individual children in Place of Hope’s care.

The winners of the Fish for a Child Fundraising Competition were: First Place: Team Mikayla, Jason Doyle Second Place: Team Ty, Lance Converse Third Place: Team William, Tom Gaines.

Winners in other categories included Heaviest Fish Overall: Team Mikayla, Frank Arementano, 38.6 lb. Kingfish; First Place: Team Mikayla, Frank Armentatno, 38.6 lb. Kingfish; Team Kim, Andrew Moore, 24 lb. Dolphin; Team Alexandra, Carl Thillberg, 11.2 lb. Wahoo; Second Place: Team Valerie, Jaszmill Rivera, 20.2 lb. Kingfish; Team Travis, Curtis Ring, 13 lb. Dolphin; Third Place: Team Anthony, Arty Lew, 20.2 lb. Kingsfish; Team Jimmy, Kevin Alexander, 12.4 lb. Dolphin.

Proceeds from the Fish for Hope KDW Tournament benefit the programs and operations of Place of Hope. With locations in Palm Beach, Broward, St. Lucie, Okeechobee, Martin, and Indian River counties, Place of Hope is a unique, faith-based, state-licensed children’s organization providing family-style foster care (emergency and long-term); family outreach and intervention; maternity care; safety for victims of domestic minor sex trafficking; transitional housing and support services for youth aging out of foster care; housing and support services for homeless families; foster care recruitment and support; hope and healing opportunities for children and families who have been traumatized by abuse and neglect throughout our region.
