Open-air evangelist Ray Comfort, creator of “Way of the Master,” and three-time Dove Award winners Pillar will share the Gospel and entertain college students on Spring Break, tourists and locals during Beachblast 2009, a free concert Saturday, March 28, at Ft. Lauderdale’s South Beach Park next to the Sheraton Yankee Clipper hotel on State Road A1A.
The event, hosted by Apocalypse Ministries and Living Water Publications, will take place from 4:30–8 p.m. and also includes performances by Fireflight and Me in Motion.
“It’s a great opportunity for people to come on out, bring their friends and have a great time, but also see what the Christian life is all about and hear the Gospel,” according to Chris Lane, the chaplain for the Florida Marlins and emcee for the event.
“We want to mobilize you, the Church, to bring your family, your friends, anyone who would normally not come to church but who would love to come to a free concert on the beach,” adds Lane, who is also the executive director for FirstPriority in South Florida, a Life that facilitates student-run Bible clubs in local schools.
Professional athletes will also stop by the event to draw more people in to hear the Good News. Christian professional surfer Cheyne Cottrell, who was featured in the acclaimed surfing movie, “Walking on Water,” will sign autographs and take photographs with fans before the event at 3 p.m. One of the top race car drivers in Florida and one of the Top 20 race car drivers in the United States, Blake Koch of West Palm Beach, will also greet fans and share his faith at the concert.
Apocalypse Ministries, the Life behind Beachblast 2009, was created by N. Craig Miller, an engineering consultant and the director of beach evangelism at North Star Community Church. The Life encourages Christians to be zealous for Jesus, because, as www.BeachBlast1.com says, “‘radical’ to us is ‘normal’ to God.” Weather permitting, Miller and other members of the Life preach on Ft. Lauderdale Beach on the corner of Las Olas Boulevard and State Road A1A eve
