Celebrate

We like to celebrate. Whether a birthday, a graduation, a marriage or a job promotion. Life is a long game if you’re lucky, and small or large victories, while traveling a long and winding road, are important means of motivation. So a curious question: Do we learn more from success or failure? To celebrate or not to celebrate? Harvard Business Review: “We argue that success can breed failure by hindering learning at both the individual and the organizational level. We all know that learning from failure is one of the most important capacities for people and companies to develop.”  So […]

Critical Court Rulings Set Stage for a Fight for Life on the November Ballot

The Florida Supreme Court on April 1st upheld the state’s 15-week abortion limit but also greenlighted a radical pro-abortion ballot measure that could wipe out all protections for the unborn in the state of Florida. The Court’s Rulings Explained The court’s seemingly contradictory rulings in the two closely watched cases set the stage for a major battle this year between the pro-life movement and abortion extremists who are seeking to enshrine abortion on demand in the Florida Constitution. In the case regarding Florida’s 15-week abortion law, the court voted 6-1 to reject the ACLU’s argument that the Florida Constitution’s right […]

Franklin Graham: The Hope of the Resurrection

It was my privilege to be in Israel recently to film a special Easter message from Jerusalem, where our Lord was crucified. Standing in front of Joseph of Arimathea’s rock-hewn tomb, I gave the Gospel invitation to trust in the risen Savior whom God raised from the dead so that all who believe in Him can receive the gift of eternal life.  In our troubled world, where there is so much confusion, chaos and calamity, the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ is our only sure and certain hope. Every other hope is vain, every other hope is futile, every […]

Pastor Doug Sauder: A Decade of Collaborative Leadership Leads Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale into its 40th Year

Described as a strong, humble, collaborative leader and gifted communicator by his peers, Doug Sauder, lead pastor of Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale, appears gentle as a dove when he addresses one of Florida’s largest congregations on the weekends, but those who know him best portray a fierce competitor on the basketball court and a man of deep courage when it comes to fighting for the vulnerable. While these traits may seem contradictory, Sauder explained, “One of my favorite verses is Matthew 11:12, ‘From the days of John the Baptist till now, the Kingdom of God has been forcefully advancing.’ This […]

What is the strangest or most exotic thing you’ve ever eaten, and where were you at the time?

This month, Good News Wants to Know… What is the strangest or most exotic thing you’ve ever eaten, and where were you at the time? While on our honeymoon in Napa Valley, I told a server at a stunning restaurant to bring me the absolute best thing on the menu. He brought me one of the best meals I’ve ever had! Later I found out I ate “sweetbreads” and just about passed out when I learned what sweetbreads are… that is the thymus or pancreas of a calf or lamb! Karen Granger, Director of Community Relations, 4KIDS Palm Beach   Other than a […]

Matching Dollars

“Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it…” (Genesis 1:28).  The first thing God asked us to do was multiply. In other words, divine multiplication has been around since the beginning of time. God wants to partner with you to multiply in every area of life.  Grow the kingdom.  Some see that as an implied command; others may view that as implied pressure? The first is quite clear “Grow the Kingdom….” What does scripture say about God and pressure? “But he who received the seed on stony places, this is […]

GOOD NEWS WANTS TO KNOW… – What is something that friends or strangers often incorrectly assume about you?

This month, Good News Wants to Know…. What is something that friends or strangers often incorrectly assume about you?   Someone once told me they were shocked to learn I could tune up my own car (back in pre-computerized days), or solder wires in broadcast equipment, build bookcases from scratch, or hang drywall before my back got old. You’d have to ask them why they assumed that I could not or would not do those kinds of things, ha ha. Dolores King-St. George, King Communications and GraceNet Media   Friends and strangers often incorrectly assume that I have always been […]
