Marking 60 Years of Ministry, Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church Looks to the Future

Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church marks 60 years of ministry in 2020 with a rich history of evangelism and global outreach under its founding pastor for 48 years, the late Rev. Dr. D. James Kennedy and now forging ahead under the leadership of Pastor Rob Pacienza, who grew up in the church and met his wife, Jen, at Westminster Academy. “Endeavoring to be a church that eagerly ministers in the present and expectantly looks toward the future,” Pacienza said, “we like to say we’re old-fashioned in a brand new way.” Kennedy was well-known in both the church and political realms, becoming […]

Pause or Pursue

It’s Fall! A glorious season full of family, celebrations and romance! Hannah Felding, a romance novelist, recently sent out a survey polling the readers’ choice for the most romantic season of the year. Fall came in at 43 percent, followed by Spring at 31 percent. Of all the brides surveyed, a whopping 28 percent got engaged on a holiday or other special occasion. So while others are thinking about pumpkins and turkey, I’m encouraging those that are hoping this will be a season of romance to pursue clarity in your dating relationship so you’ll have discernment regarding whether to hit […]

Would you prefer to travel forward in time or back? …to what time? …and why?

I think most would agree we’re living in unusual times. Let’s imagine time travel was really possible. Good News Wants to Know… Would you prefer to travel forward in time or back? …to what time? …and why? Definitely NO going back in time for me and I hesitate in going forward. I think living in the moment is essential and taking each day as it comes. BUT if I must, I would go forward in time and meet my grandchildren; hopefully my children a long time from now will have some children. I would like to run ahead and see what the fruits of […]

Gospel Hope in Days of Darkness

Do you remember when you were a child learning how to tell the time? First, your parents told you the strange news that somehow a clock had “hands.” Next, they showed you that one hand was longer than the other, and based on this odd fact, you could identify the time of day down to the very minute! Then came the wonderful day when you realized you didn’t have to bother with any of this complicated business at all. Digital clocks were far more practical! As children, we don’t just learn to tell time by looking at a clock. From […]

What’s Your EQ?

We all know that IQ measures intelligence, but are you aware of EQ? EQ is our emotional intelligence. In the best-selling book, Emotional Intelligence, Daniel Goleman documented the research indicating that IQ intelligence only accounts for about 20 percent of a person’s success in life. So what accounts for the other 80%? Researchers believe a big piece of the puzzle is Emotional Intelligence – the capacity to ACQUIRE and APPLY emotional information.   People with strong emotional intelligence are more effective and successful in their career, make healthier choices, have more influence, make better decisions, make better grades, and they have […]

Late-Term Abortion Facility Closed in Broward

This past March a team of pro-life sidewalk counselors got great news! The late-term abortion facility where, for seven years, they stood on the sidewalk and offered help to pregnant women was finally shutting its doors. The prayers and peaceful presence of these tireless warriors made a difference. The news was especially gratifying, considering the number of abortions that occur every year in Broward County. In 2019 alone, the lives of 9,864 unborn children were tragically lost to abortion. Broward Right to Life has had volunteers reaching out in front of this facility, the Fort Lauderdale Women’s Center on Oakland […]

For Ours Is the Kingdom

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom” (Matthew 5:3).   Do you feel weary? Tired? Do you feel discouraged at your lack of physical, emotional or spiritual strength? Today, God is giving us an invitation through this incredibly powerful verse. He calls the poor in spirit blessed. He invites those who feel their deep need and their poverty of heart to come and experience the kingdom for themselves. He invites us.   This passage has been ringing in my heart for months. It seems that lately everywhere I look I feel my weakness; I feel my […]

Searching Our Hearts About Racism

At Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA), our hearts were broken as we learned of the senseless killing of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and others like them, and we’ve been asking ourselves some tough questions in response. I invite you to join me in those questions, led by verses from Psalm 139. “You created my inmost being,” wrote King David; “you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Consider Ahmaud Arbery in Georgia, fatally shot while jogging. A work of God’s hand, […]
