What cool existing invention do you wish you had thought of to invent yourself?

This month. Good News Wants To Know… what cool existing invention do you wish you had thought of to invent yourself? Having begun my illustrious sales career in the office supply business, it should not be surprising that my selection would be the ubiquitous Post-It Note. Hardly a day goes by without using one or seeing one in use in a variety of shapes and colors. The fact that the discovery was accidental only makes it even more appealing. That’s my story and I am sticking (lightly) to it! Mike McDermott, PA, Seniors Real Estate Specialist, The Keyes Company This […]

He Is Our Shepherd

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters” (Psalm 23:1–2). Virtually every educated mind in the English-speaking world has heard the words of this psalm of King David. These words to our loving Shepherd have been spoken by many a soldier under a star-filled sky during a dark night in a foxhole on some faraway battlefield. These are the words whose syllables have been formed by, and whispered through, the lips of many while dying on a bed of affliction. These are the […]

Far From Home in a Shipping Container

As I am writing I am in Upstate New York this summer, and while here, we visited the St. Lawrence River. This is a massive river and a popular route for shipping containers. As I watched these massive boats hauling hundreds of shipping containers, I was reminded of a story from 4KIDS.  Stuck in a shipping container… Just a couple of years ago, a little girl came to a 4KIDS Foster Family in Palm Beach County, and the trauma she had endured prior to arriving at their home was heartbreaking. This little girl had traveled all the way from Guatemala […]

What’s the most unbelievable yet true excuse you have ever had for being late?

Tardiness is frowned upon, yet occasionally it’s unavoidable. Good News Wants to Know… what’s the most unbelievable yet true excuse you have ever had for being late? It was the groom, the best man, and me (another member of the wedding party) in a car going over the Throgs Neck Bridge on our way from The Bronx to the wedding location in Long Island. We left on time but that didn’t matter. We were a one third of the way over the bridge when there was a massive multi-car collision. There were no casualties but plenty of damage. Luckily to other cars but […]

Your Work Matters to God

On September 4, Americans celebrate the federal holiday known as Labor Day. So I’d like to give you a word of eternal encouragement about your labor: No matter where you work and what you do, your work matters to God. First, we must remember that work is not a result of the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Work was given to them before they sinned and rebelled against God. Work is one of God’s many good gifts to mankind. Theologians frequently refer to this as the Cultural Mandate or the Creation Mandate. “God created man […]

PBA Equips Believers to Faithfully Defend the Gospel through Apologetics

Dr. Paul Gould was confronted with the truth of the gospel when he was just 18 years old, a freshman in college.   “Someone shared the gospel with me, and I realized that if what that person was saying was actually true, then I had missed the boat,” said Gould. “I had grown up in church, but I just didn’t have an understanding of the gospel, and I didn’t know Jesus personally.”    A faith journey This evangelistic encounter sent Gould on a journey as a freshman in college, and he began going to an apologetics class with a friend.  “I […]

Covid and Christianity, What Happens Now?

The church in the words of C.S. Lewis, “…exists for nothing else but to draw men into Christ, to make them little Christs. If they are not doing that, all the cathedrals, clergy, missions, sermons, even the Bible itself, are simply a waste of time.”  There is absolutely no doubt that the Church in our post-pandemic world has changed. Just ask any Christian how their faith has been impacted since the “pandemic” and you are likely to get an ear full. If you ask your local pastor the same question, they are apt to take you down a path of […]
