South Florida Baseball School Inspires Excellence

Bruce Charlebois came to Parkland 20 years ago with a dream in mind: to open a school for baseball. Drafted by the New York Yankees in 1987, Charlebois had a career ending knee injury. The injury may have ended his career but not his love nor devotion for the sport. Timothy Worley has been appointed Vice President for Admissions and Special Projects at Palm Beach Atlantic University. A 1994 Palm Beach Atlantic Supper Honors graduate, Worley served as Executive Assistant to the President at Palm Beach Atlantic for nearly four years. Senior Olympic Games Held at Park Summit

Heart2Heart Senior Outreach of South Florida brought the generations together on June 22 for an afternoon of fun and games. ChildNet held its annual Transitional Independent Living (TIL) Program Graduation ceremony and celebration at its Palm Beach County office on June 9. Camp Identify Students Serve at Hepzibah House

Forty-two students from Camp Identify participated in a camp-related service activity on June 23. The students painted, cleaned up debris, planted shrubs and cleaned. This group project was for a faith based nonprofit ministry called Hepzibah House located in Boynton Beach, Florida. Hepzibah House rehabilitates women who have been enslaved in the sex industry. During their season of abuse, many of the women also become addicted to alcohol and drugs. Five Students Win State History Competition and Advance to National History Day Contest

Five students from Calvary Christian Academy (CCA) took first place in the state National History Day competition in Tallahassee in May and will be advancing to the national contest in Maryland this summer. Christopher Schunk, Kaley Hendry, Gabrielle Cahill, Nicholas Hadler and Theo Linardic won first place in the Senior Group Documentary category for Encounter Among the Stars, a film that tracks the history of space exploration from ancient cultures to today, focusing on the role of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
