First Lady of Coral Ridge, Anne Kennedy Remembered

Anne Lewis Kennedy, known to most as the “First Lady” of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, passed away on May 16 at the age of 91. A faithful servant of the Lord, Anne labored alongside her husband, Dr. D. James Kennedy, who was senior pastor at Coral Ridge for more than 48 years until he went to be with the Lord in 2007. His wife constantly encouraged him, and by the grace of God, Coral Ridge produced Evangelism Explosion, a worldwide lay-witnessing program; Knox Theological Seminary; Westminster Academy; and D. James Kennedy Ministries, a worldwide broadcast ministry (formerly Coral Ridge Ministries) […]

Eat Lunch Alone? Not In My School!

What problem can you identify at your school and what can you do about it? It was a simple question but it was the match that lit a national solution to a problem every blog post, book or movie on teenagers addresses: high school lunch. Not the actual food but the social miasma associated with it. Who can I eat with? For students at Boca High, the answer is — With us! Forgiveness Restores Who?

An ancient story is told of two friends who were taking a trip through the desert. In the course of many discussions, an unusually sharp disagreement arose over a mutually sensitive issue. In a moment of impulsive rage, the one friend slapped the other in the face. Responding with great restraint and sadness, the man stooped down and wrote in the sand, “Today my good friend slapped me in the face.” and they walked on in strained silence. Much later arriving at a shaded, cool oasis they decided to take a refreshing bath. After a little bit the one slapped […]

I Am Woman; Where’s My Roar?

The message today to women is you can both have and do it all. So why aren’t more women roaring rather than dealing with depression and anxiety? It is hard to roar when you are depressed or anxious. I can hear some man saying, “Oh. my wife roars plenty around our house.” There is a big difference between yelling out of hurt and frustration and roaring with confidence and joy. Rather than buy into the world’s empty promises, let’s look at how to get your roar back. This begins with self acceptance.   Is self-image biblical? The short answer is […]

Should Shoppers Boycott Companies That Don’t Uphold Their Values?

Many Christians have been looking more closely at the places they shop, concerned about the values the corporations’ owners endorse. Other Christians either choose to focus on issues more important to them or on the individual workers who could be harmed by a boycott. Complicating the matter for many is the difference between the approaches used by various groups: some groups directly encourage boycotts while others simply encourage being informed shoppers or consumers. Regardless of the approach, the intent is to prevent Christians from spending their money at a place that does not support their values. Some see this as […]

In a surprising 5-0 approval vote, it was clear that “God did a miraculous thing,” as Pastor McCormick will testify. This undertaking, titled as the Immeasurably More Building Project, is the result of four years […]

Participate in the National Day of Prayer on May 4

On Thursday, May 4, people of all faiths across America are invited to join together in a day of prayer for our nation to intercede for our leaders, defenders, public servants and families. Designating a national day of prayer is a tradition that began in 1775 with the Continental Congress, has been observed by many presidents over the years, including Abraham Lincoln in 1863, and was established as an annual event by President Truman in 1952. In 1983 the Supreme Court affirmed the right of state legislatures to open their sessions with prayer and in 1988 President Ronald Reagan officially […]
