Polo of Boca Raton donates $127,700 to Lake Worth and Delray Beach charities

The Polo Club of Boca Raton demonstrated the power of true generosity recently by donating more than $126,700 to two local charities. In late May, Members and the Club’s COO made two check presentations – one for $63,773.95 to Delray Beach-based AVDA, Inc. (Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse) and one for $63,926.45 to Lake Worth-based Forgotten Soldiers Outreach. Representatives from each non-profit organization knew they were receiving a donation from Polo Club, as beneficiaries of the community’s inaugural “Polo Gives Back” Week. Broward College Holds Groundbreaking for New Aviation Facility

Broward College and Diversified Companies celebrated the groundbreaking for a new aviation facility at North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines on May 26. Broward College will lease three hangars for its Aviation Maintenance Management Associate of Science program, and will house four classrooms, faculty offices, and shop space in its 13,500 square feet. Nine Firewall students were awarded a two year Florida pre-paid scholarship from the Take Stock in Children (TSIC) program. Saint Joseph’s School’s Serves Angel Tree Dinner for Homeless

Eighth grade students, faculty, staff, and parents from Saint Joseph’s Episcopal School served a Christmas meal for nearly fifty homeless and underprivileged families at Holy Redeemer Episcopal Church in Lake Worth on December 11th. In addition to collecting the food and cooking the meal, which included baked ham and all the trimmings, Saint Joseph’s School and Church families donated new work shoes for men in need. BSO Offers Citizens Academy

Applications are now being accepted for the Broward Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy. The academy is designed to provide participants with an overview of the criminal justice system, the operation of a law enforcement/fire rescue agency and the workings of the BSO Criminal Investigations Unit.
