SF HEAT 5K Run Raises Funds for Home School Athletics

Close to 200 people participated in the South Florida HEAT (Home Education Athletic Teams) 5K Run/Walk and Family Fund Day on Saturday, November 22 at Markahm Park to raise funds for the FHSAA accredited high school sports program.

A Christian based, not-for-profit organization working with homeschooling families, the SF HEAT develops tomorrow’s servant-leaders by applying life lessons available from the interscholastic athletic arena. Established in 2004, the SF HEAT enables homeschooled kids to compete against public and private schools. What started with track and field now includes boys’ and girls’ soccer, cross country, swimming, tennis and band. Over the years girls’ volleyball, boys’ baseball, basketball, football and cheerleading have also been offered.

According to SF HEAT Athletic Director, Bob Bemis, “The goal of the South Florida HEAT is to be a home for the homeschoolers athletically, socially and spiritually. For information or to donate, visit sfheat.org/friends-of-heat.
