3rd Annual OCP2 Wellness Day

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month (May), the FREE 3rd Annual OCP2 Wellness Day for Broward County youth, families, and community providers will be held on Saturday, May 5 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Central Broward Regional Park (Shelter #8), 3700 Northwest 11th Place, Lauderhill, FL.  Visit http://miami.eventful.com/events/ocp2-wellness-day-/E0-001-113530376-4 for more information.

During the outdoor event, attendees will enjoy activities such as yoga, African dance, basketball and kickball games, lyrical expression, healthy eating demonstrations, and raffles. There will also be an arts & crafts tent with tie-dye painting and coloring meditation.  By using the hashtag #IAmNotMyTrauma, Broward County youth and families who attend the event will have the chance to participate in a social media contest for a chance to win a brand new bike.

One Community Partnership2 (OCP2) brings together Broward organizations who support youth with behavioral health challenges and their families. This system of care is part of a national movement through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to improve the lives of children, youth, and young adults. OCP2’s mission is to support the wellness, recovery and resiliency of youth and young adults with mental health challenges and substance abuse.

Additional details are attached and below.  We urge you to please include this in your calendar of events during May and perhaps do an advance story about how physical and emotional effects of trauma can impact someone’s health across a lifetime. It is important to know there is help available in the community for those who need it.  Interviews are available with representatives upon request. Please let me know if you have any questions.
