Mr. Cink was born in Huntsville, Alabama, and grew up in nearby Florence. He took up the game when his parents, single-digit handicappers, left him at the driving range before he was old enough to go on the course. He graduated from Bradshaw High School in 1991. He then went to Georgia Tech in Atlanta where he played golf for the Yellow Jackets. He graduated in 1995 with a degree in Management. He turned professional in 1995.
