Food For The Poor (FFTP), 6401 Lyons Road, Coconut Creek will host Food For The Poor Day on May 7 from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.

The community is invited to join the charity for a celebration of faith and optimism.

The festive day will be filled with various activities, starting with a prayer service open to all from 9 to 9:30 a.m. in the Prayer Room of FFTP’s Coconut Creek headquarters.

Following the service, guests will have an opportunity to tour the building and warehouse at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., or 3 p.m. During these tours, they also will have the chance to pack disaster hygiene kits for Haiti or try on a virtual reality headset and transport themselves to one of the countries where FFTP helps people in need.

The highlight of Food For The Poor Day will be the release of Glacia Robinson’s latest album, “Hands of Mercy.” Fifty percent of proceeds from the album will go to support FFTP programs.

A reception for guests to mix and mingle with FFTP’s leadership team will begin at 6 p.m. in the FFTP lobby prior to the album release and concert.

Robinson will perform songs from the album in FFTP’s Prayer Room at 7 p.m. The songs were written and inspired by Robinson’s experiences with FFTP.

Joining Robinson in this special performance will be the Cason Kids Chorus from Cason United Methodist Church in Delray Beach, Fla., and FFTP’s own CRUSE Tones band, adding their voices to the evening of celebration.
