Encouragement for remarried couples

There are 35 million Americans in the United States today who are remarried. Remarriage and the stepfamily have changed the landscape of what families look like today. When couples remarry a second time, 60 percent of them will divorce again. For those who remarry for a third time, 75 percent will find divorce at the end of their relationship. Sounds kind of depressing, doesn’t it? One of the biggest reasons these divorces happen is that when people remarry, they don’t prepare themselves as they should. They have been married before; they know how it’s done. Well, we ask, “How’s that […]

Experts debunk study claiming two moms better than Mom and Dad

A study in the Journal of Marriage and Family concludes that any set of two or more compatible parents are as good for children as a married, biological mother and father. In particular, lesbians, they claim, “seem to outparent comparable married, heterosexual, biological parents.” Glenn Stanton, director of family formation studies at Focus on the Family, debunks the findings. “They’re just completely overreaching their hand,” he said. “Are we to think that nature has really sent each one of us down a second-rate road of having to be raised by a man and a woman?” The research dismisses more than […]

Focus on the Creator not just his handiwork

Peering out my 18th-floor window at the Denver Grand Hyatt, I was delighted to see a fresh layer of snow blanketing the city. Ah, what a welcome sight for a perennial Floridian. I can’t recall the last time I awoke to the sight of the fluffy white stuff sprawled across the ground. It was the final day of the Jerry Jenkins Christian Writers Guild conference. After four days of sitting in hotel conference rooms listening to intense seminars and speeches stretching my mind and imagination, I was hungry to get a glimpse of the majestic Rocky Mountains, another rare sight […]

future of e-funding: SaveNDonate.com

SaveNDonate.com raises the bar for fundraising online When Brad Stroetz and Deborah De Castro met in the workplace several years ago, they quickly bonded. Sharing the same work ethic and love for Christ, they were immediate friends and stayed in touch, even after going their separate ways in the business world. De Castro slowly phased herself out of the company that the two of them had been working for, and began pursuing a dream that she knew was led by the Holy Spirit. Acting on an early calling to help others that she’d felt within, De Castro worked in the […]

Live Pure a radical approach

It’s been a bold and risky endeavor since day one. Not one to take the easy or safe road on the issue of pornography, Craig Gross, co-founder of xxxchurch, has proven over the years that sometimes a radical approach needs to be implemented in order to lead souls to Christ. Originally a youth pastor in Fullerton, Calif., Gross came up with the idea for xxxchurch after seeing how many people around him were affected by pornography. His mission was to “give people a safe place to get help and let them know that they are not alone in this struggle.” […]

Local street Christian preachers killed

As incidents of verbal assaults, criticism and vicious attacks on Christians are rising, two young men from Boynton Beach have sadly become the latest victims. Steven Ocean, 23, and Tite Sufra, 24, gladly took up the task of street preaching to those in their community as a way of ministering to troubled youths. Ocean, Sufra and another male took to the streets of Boynton Beach on Saturday, Jan. 30, planning to preach the word of God to those around them, specifically to those individuals around the 100th block of Southwest Second Street according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Majority of Americans view abortion as wrong

America is trending pro-life. A Knights of Columbus-Marist survey finds 58 percent of those in the “Millennial” group (18-29 years old) agreed with the statement that abortion is “morally wrong.” Fifty-one percent of Baby Boomers (those 45-64) and 60 percent of Gen X’ers (30-44) feel the same. “Americans of all ages – and younger people in even greater numbers than their parents – see abortion as something morally wrong,” said Carl Anderson, a spokesman for the Knights. “America has turned a corner and is embracing life – and, in doing so, is embracing a future they – and all of […]

Media bias shows up in the strangest places

The mainstream media love lists. On almost any day, open up the paper or log on to your favorite News website, and there’s some sort of list: The Richest Americans. The Best Colleges. The Most Powerful Political Leaders. Whatever. These lists are designed to look like valid studies. They may even tout a rigorous methodology. But most of these lists are generated using arbitrary, and often ideologically driven, criteria. The lists that I find the most frustrating are those that rate cities. The Happiest Cities. The Best Cities to Raise a Family. And this week’s entry: “The Best U.S. Cities […]

Personhood bill introduced 3 states

Personhood has expanded into three new states, including Iowa, Virginia and Kansas. On Jan. 13, Virginia introduced HB 112, a bill to guarantee the constitutional rights of pre-born children. Shortly after, Iowa introduced HJR 2003, proposing a joint resolution for an amendment including a right to life for all men and women, irrespective of age. The same day, Kansas submitted a personhood amendment to the state’s Office of Revisor of Statutes. “A two-thirds majority of both legislative houses is needed to pass the amendment, and that can be a rather challenging endeavor; so it is of the utmost importance that […]
