Big Cardio for At-Risk Youth

Big Children’s Foundation hosted the 16th Annual Big Cardio Event on March 2nd to benefit at-risk youth. The event, usually held in May for Foster Care Awareness, was held earlier due to park renovations, but will return to its usual first Saturday in May 2025. This fun event encompassed a 5K, a 3.1 walk, 1-mile prayer walk, fitness classes, pickleball, and the Renegade Games—a competitive team relay through an obstacle course where the winners receive medals. The 1-Mile Prayer Walk, sponsored by Community Christian Church, was extra special as the walkers were accompanied by live worship as they made their way around the lake and stopped at several stations to pray for the teens. This included images, scriptures, and prayers of healing for their trauma and pain, for strength and resilience, and even prayers for the system itself. Many were moved to tears, while others knelt, or raised their hands in worship. A wonderful time was had by all as was indicated on the follow up survey—100% of the respondents said they enjoyed the event and will come again in 2025!
