400,000 Men make a stand for Jesus

Last weekend, hundreds of thousands of men gathered in South Africa to hear evangelist Angus Buchan’s passionate message on God’s power to transform lives. Now viewers across the globe can tune in and be a part of this mega-event. Four sessions from Buchan’s “Mighty Men” conference will air on GOD TV: April 23 at 8:30 p.m. EDT, April 24 at 6:30 p.m., and April 25 at noon and 6 p.m.

With an estimated 350,000 to 450,000 attendees, Mighty Men 2010 was one of the largest men’s gatherings South Africa has ever seen. More than 50 planes and thousands of other vehicles brought delegates in from around the country. Held at Angus Buchan’s Shalom Farm in Greytown, tents could be seen across the horizon. People camped in fields and gathered around the large stage, where Angus challenged the crowds to make a stand for Jesus.

“I have farmed maize all my life, but I’ve never seen a crop of people as big as this,” said the farmer-turned-evangelist, addressing the crowd. “Jesus took 12 men and changed the world. I see hundreds of thousands of men in this place. We need to seize the moment. The future of South Africa, indeed the world, lies in the believer, in your hands and my hands. God is asking you, ‘What are you going to do about it?'”

The founder of Shalom Ministries, Angus Buchan is devoted to nation building. He encourages men to take up their God-given responsibility and work for social change. He believes God is raising up a new generation of men to radically transform today’s society. At Mighty Men 2010, he called on them to share the love of God in their homes, communities and places of work, bringing reconciliation wherever they go.

“You cannot love God with hatred inside you,” he says. “This is why we are here, to get answers from God. There is a gentle spirit blowing through this place. I want you to open your heart this weekend. We need to make a stand for Jesus and call sin by its name; and when we go home, we’ve got some business to sort out!”

Men of different ages, races and theological perspectives attended the conference. Many of the delegates referred to it as “the experience of a lifetime.” GOD TV’s coverage includes heartfelt praise. The 400,000 men lifted their voices in worship and gave testimonies of what God has accomplished in men’s lives. Some of the men’s wives and children attended a family service.

“The Lord is using Angus Buchan to impact people’s lives everywhere, through his simple but profound teaching of the Gospel,” said GOD TV cofounder and CEO Rory Alec. “I am especially moved to see so many men’s lives being transformed for the Kingdom, because I know this means stronger marriages and families that are a shining example of God’s love in action.”

GOD TV has often featured Angus Buchan live at various events. His regular program, Grassroots, can be seen on the GOD Channel, Saturdays at 6 a.m. EDT.
