More than 300 people representing over 20 churches gathered along University Drive on Sunday, October 5, for the annual Life Chain observance, a national pro-life event promoting prayer and peaceful witness for the unborn. Participants lined the roadway from Sample Road to Miramar Parkway between 2 and 3 p.m., holding signs with messages such as “Adoption, the Loving Option,” “Abortion Hurts Women,” and “Life: The First Inalienable Right.”
Abortion has taken more than 63 million lives in America since the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision by the U.S. Supreme Court. The Court overturned that decision in 2022; however, abortion remains legal in Florida through six weeks. According to Broward Right to Life, abortionists in Broward take the lives of about 500 preborn babies each month.
Tewannah Aman, executive director of Broward Right to Life, shared emotional interactions with passersby. One woman stopped to thank participants, saying her own abortion had been “devastating,” while another expressed gratitude for her child and encouraged volunteers to continue their efforts.
A 40 Days for Life prayer campaign continues nationwide through November 2. For more information, visit browardrighttolife.org.
