Each year, the president issues a proclamation calling our nation to prayer on the first Thursday of May across the United States, May 7, 2026. This National Day of Prayer (NDP) is significant as we mark the 250th anniversary of our country’s establishment and the NDP’s 75th year. The 2026 National Day of Prayer Theme is “Glorify God among the nations… seeking Him in all generations,” and is based on the following passage: “Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples (1 Chronicles 16:24 NASB).
An official National Day of Prayer Broadcast will be aired from Statuary Hill at the U.S. Capital at 8 p.m. eastern time on Thursday, May 6, featuring faith leaders such as Kathy Branzell, Will Graham, Dr. Rob Pacienza, Os Guiness, Rosemary Siemens, Eli Bennett and others. Bishop Eddie Rivero, Florida coordinator of the National Day of Prayer Task Force, said there is also an official Guinness World Record attempt for the largest outdoor prayer gathering reciting “The Lord’s Prayer” planned during Faith Family Fest on the Saturday after the National Day or Prayer. It will be a full day for all ages with live concerts, a petting zoo, a Kids Zone and more, on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Miami-Dade County Fair & Exposition Center, 10901 SW 24th Street, Miami, FL 33165. Those who wish to participate in the world record must register in advance at faithfamilyfestival.com.
