Allen West to Speak during CBMC Leadership Series Shelly Pond 16 Sep 2020 no comments Lieutenant Colonel Allen West will speak on “Leadership in Troubled Waters” during a CBMC South Florida Leadership Series live Zoom event on Thursday, September 24 from 12:45 to 2 p.m. The series invites people in unique leadership positions to share how business people can lead through biblically-based principles, said Harley Storrings, attorney at law, who hosts the series for CBMC. Lt. Col. West’s Background The third of four generations of military servicemen in his family, Lt. Col. West served in several combat zones and received many honors including a Bronze Star, three Meritorious Service Medals, three Army Commendation Medals, one with Valor device, and a Valorous Unit Award during his 22 years of service in the United States Army. In 1993 he was named the US Army ROTC Instructor of the Year. Formerly a resident of South Florida, West taught history at Deerfield Beach High School for one year and was elected to the United States Congress, representing Florida’s 22nd District in November of 2010. As a member of the 112th Congress, he sat on the Small Business and Armed Services Committees and was instrumental in passage of the 2011 and 2012 National Defense Authorization Acts. Previously Executive Director of the National Center for Policy Analysis in Dallas Texas and a former Director of the Booker T. Washington Initiative (BTWI) for the Texas Public Policy Foundation, West was elected Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas in July of 2020, by an overwhelming majority of State delegates.
