Bethlehem nights

Tired of the commercialized madness of the holidays? Feeling the need to experience the real meaning of Christmas? Hollywood Hills Church comes to the rescue with Bethlehem Nights. This church family wants to take you back in time and across the globe to Bethlehem–no passport necessary.

Bethlehem Nights, held at Hollywood Hills United Methodist Church, brings to life the ancient town of Bethlehem–shepherds, soldiers and tax collectors included. Volunteers in full costume along with live animals will transport you back in time, unveiling what life was really like 2,000 years ago when a bright Star over Judea put an exclamation point on our Savior’s birth.

“Guests are ushered in as if they are arriving for the census,” describes coordinator Ginger Denise. “Visitors will interact with shop owners and craftsman,” she says. “They’ll even get to meet and converse with Mary and Joseph.”

“It’s a sensory-engulfing experience,” says Denise.

The church is producing the event for the second year and is adding the “Sounds of Christmas Concert” on Sunday, December 20 at 6 p.m. in the church’s sanctuary.

The event is appropriate for all ages and is free of charge, although sojourners to Bethlehem are welcome to leave “voluntary taxes” as a donation.
