Broward County Provides Senior Touchline

Senior TouchlineSenior citizens living alone can be a little safer in Broward County due to a new touchline service. The Broward Country Sherriff’s Department seeks to ensure that they are doing everything they can for our county’s seniors while honoring and respecting their independence. In September 2013, BSO partnered with the Broward 2-1-1 Senior Touchline program.

The Broward 2-1-1 Senior Touchline is saving lives by providing a free daily wellness telephone call to seniors age 60 and over who live alone in Broward County. The daily wellness call provides a safeguard for Broward seniors as well as social interaction. The 2-1-1 counselor establishes a caring, reliable relationship with the senior. The counselor can also connect seniors with other agencies and organizations that can provide additional assistance. Whether the individual requires food, transportation, medication or additional medical services, the counselors can help. Any interested senior in our community is urged to sign up for this important service.
