ChildNet Celebrates Graduating Students

P1. Tim Byrd, Michelle Canaday, Larry Rein, David Sarris and John MerlinoChildNet held its annual Transitional Independent Living (TIL) Program Graduation ceremony and celebration at its Palm Beach County office on June 9. The event honored 34 students who were in foster care and have achieved their high school/college degrees or their GEDs.

“While graduation is a major milestone for any student, it is especially gratifying for this group of students,” said Larry Rein, Executive Director of ChildNet in Palm Beach County. “Many of whom have had to overcome obstacles most of us have never faced”.

At the celebration, AT&T Pioneers of Florida presented 25 graduates with brand new laptops, valued at $10,000, to support them as they move on to achieve their future goals. This donation marks AT&T’s continued support of ChildNet’s mission to protect abused, abandoned and neglected children in the communities it serves. In addition to the laptops, Guardian ad Litem/Speak Up for Kids donated gift cards to each of the graduating students, and Panera Bread provided an array of bagels and pastries for guests. ChildNet serves as Palm Beach County’s Community-Based Care lead agency and is responsible for administration of the local child welfare system.
