Since the Church has often remained silent on the topics of sex and intimacy over the years, this has led to a distortion of God’s purpose in these areas of our lives. Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale will be discussing “Sex and Intimacy: Do You Have the Right Perspective?”during two special events in September.  On Friday, September 16 from 6 – 10 p.m., men are invited to hear some straight talk about sex and intimacy from Frank Ramseur, senior pastor of Calvary Chapel Chattanooga. The women will meet on Saturday, September 17 from 7:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. to hear from Dr. Juli Slattery, founder of Authentic Intimacy.

“One of the greatest needs in our churches and in our communities is knowing and understanding God’s truth about sex and intimacy,” said Doug Sauder, pastor of Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale. “God made us sexual beings, and as the Designer, He knows best. Our hope is to give people practical biblical insights that will help them experience the kind of intimate, authentic relationships we were created for.”

They are holding separate events because they will be talking about sensitive topics and it would be awkward and uncomfortable if the men and women were together. And Sauder said, “We believe everyone who attends will benefit, whether they are single, married, widowed or divorced.” The men’s event is for ages 16 and up. Separate breakout sessions on relevant issues will be offered for married, single, and high school aged men. The women’s event is for ages 18 and up and will not include separate sessions..

Frank Ramseur

Who is Frank Ramseur? After coming to the Lord on an airplane in 1992, he went on to serve at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale from 1996–2000, and helped create the Calvary House for Men discipleship program. During the summer of 2000, God called Frank and his wife Shawn to pioneer a church in Chattanooga.

Because of he has a thriving and effective men’s discipleship ministry, Sauder said, “We thought he would be the perfect person to speak God’s wisdom into the lives of men of all ages.”

Juli Slattery

A widely-known clinical psychologist, author, speaker and broadcast media professional, Slattery hosts “Java With Juli” on Moody Radio, where she answers tough questions about relationships, marriage, and spiritual, emotional and sexual intimacy. Juli’s books include Passion Pursuit, Finding the Hero in Your Husband, No More Headaches, and Guilt-Free Motherhood. She and her husband, Mike, have been married since 1994 and have three children.

The Ladies’ event will include a no-holds-barred Q&A session where Dr. Slattery answers any and all questions—no matter how “taboo” they may seem—and provides a godly perspective and practical advice.
