GREATER MIAMI YOUTH FOR CHRIST AND KIX  INVITES THE PUBLIC TO “SNEAK-PEEK” INTO ITS NEWLY-PURCHASED YOUTH BUILDING IN HOMESTEAD  ON TUESDAY, DEC. 17TH.

The Excitement Is Building as Youth Leaders Gather To Cast A Vision For A New and Improved KIX Building That Will Accommodate More Students!

Bonnie Rodriguez, Executive Director of Greater Miami Youth For Christ, today announced that the organization’s long-sought effort to seek a bigger home for its expanding youth program in Homestead and Florida City has met with success. The 5,000 square foot building, located at 1088 Mowry Drive, has recently received zoning rights from the Homestead City Council, and will open within the coming weeks.

“We are extremely pleased with the response from the Homestead government officials, and the community, as we move forward to take a 20-year-program called KIX, which serves 80 kids weekly, to new heights,” said Mrs. Rodriguez.  This larger facility will allow us to reach out to an even larger segment of the underserved, but very needy, youth population of Homestead and Florida City.

Mrs. Rodriguez is joined by KIX-founder Stacy Hollister Morales, who will continue to lead this very successful program into the future.

“God put this call on my life two decades ago,” recalled Mrs. Morales, a former elementary school teacher.  We are witness to amazing stories of growth and recovery among children these past 20 years. Since 1993, the KIX clubs have provided an ecumenical approach to humanitarian programs for urban young people of West Homestead and Florida City.  The KIX programs are designed to reach under-served, at-risk students in the neighborhood.  Since KIX began, it has provided a safe, loving place for young people to come after school.”

The  unrenovated building will open on Tuesday, December 17th, for a Sneak Peek Walk-Thru at 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.  The Walk-Thru will kick off a fund raising effort called “96 FOR KIX”, so named because a young boy donated 96 cents from his pocket, all he had, to help.  This inspired the organization’s present goal to raise a much-needed $96,000 for necessary improvements on the building, to make it KIX-friendly on all levels.

Mrs. Rodriguez will provide a brief presentation which will include the Youth For Christ organization’s  vision and plans for renovation to make the youth center a thriving place for kids to learn, play and grow.  Refreshments will be served.
