Giving Back This Holiday Season

Congregations across the Nation to Team Up with Worldwide Charity

Soles4Souls, a Nashville based not-for-profit charity, is teaming up with congregations across the United States this holiday season, with the hopes of collecting 250,000 shoes to distribute to those in need. This year’s event, “Thanks4Giving”, is a unique project that allows people across the nation to share their new or “gently used” shoes with those less fortunate.

One local church that is participating in the event is Calvary Chapel in Coral Springs. Calvary Chapel, a non-denominational Christian church that is committed to teaching the message of Jesus Christ, is holding a month long shoe collection, starting with its “Kick Off” on Sunday, November 29th, 2009. The event, called “BAREFOOT SUNDAY”, will begin with a very special church service at 10 a.m. Shoes collected during this month long event will be distributed around the world by Soles4Souls. Those receiving the shoes include natural disaster victims, those living in poverty and even those who have been affected by the current recession.

Soles4Souls has donated over 5.5 million pairs of shoes in the last four years and has a simple mission: to give new and gently worn shoes a new life on the feet of those who are in desperate need of footwear. Wayne Elsey, Founder and CEO of Soles4Souls, believes this event will, “Not only leave a lasting impact on the hearts of your entire congregation, but it will also help Soles4Souls continue our mission to ‘Change the World One Pair at a Time.”
