Hillsong United Live

Australia’s hottest Christian worship band, Hillsong United, is making its way to the United States over the next few months to promote their newest album, Aftermath. The band, which was birthed through members of Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia, is well-known around the world with their mega-hits Mighty to Save, Hosanna, From the Inside Out and Lead Me to the Cross, among others. Hillsong is comprised of a strong and faithful team of musicians, singers and songwriters and the “numbers” speak for themselves in terms of the band’s success; albums such as Tear Down the Walls and All of the Above have both hit #1 on the U.S. Billboard Christian Albums Chart. Aftermath, which was released in February of this year, was also listed on iTunes’ Top Albums downloaded in the U.S. during its release.

Though the band has evolved and been stretched over the years, the Hillsong family is spirited about not losing focus on their main goal – worshipping the Lord with a passion. Their website, hillsongunited.com, gives a clear vision on what they hope to achieve with their music and lyrics, stating that they are all “intentional about giving a voice to a generation who is passionate about God”. Song lyrics from their previous albums prove that the band is committed to writing hit after hit that speak God’s truth and that can connect anyone, anywhere with Him. The band has taken on a fresh and bold approach with their recent album Aftermath, their tours and multimedia. “There is a real sense of perseverance within our team, not performance,” Joel Houston, Worship Leader and Creative Director, was recently quoted as saying. “In 2011, we are pushing the boundaries and stretching ourselves; musically, lyrically and believing that God is going to do things that He has never done before.”
The inspiration of their latest album comes from reflection on the different seasons of life that everyone experiences. The album’s songs are described on the band’s website as those that “come from deep places; tell the highs and lows of the Christian journey”. Aftermath was recorded in Sydney following a period of rest for the group after the release of their full-length film, I Heart. The film was shot over a two year period in an animation, interview and live-action documentary style and follows Hillsong as they visited over 93 cities in 42 nations and experienced stories of love, hope, loss and sacrifice.
Fans will be moved by song lyrics on the new album as it is apparent that these inspiring, yet sometimes hard to hear stories have truly affected the heart of each member of the Hillsong family. “The message of Jesus Christ is eternal, yet He continues to reveal Himself in new ways…giving us what we need to be followers and disciples of Christ for this time in history. Life with God is fun, it’s an adventure, it is grace, freedom, peace and everything in between. Whether you are listening to our newest album or our very first, our prayer and passion is that you are empowered to live life with God, be encouraged to stay on the course and be excited about all that He has for your future,” adds Houston.

For South Floridians that don’t want to miss an incredible night of worship and musical amazement, Hillsong will be hitting the American Airlines Arena in Miami on Saturday, August 6, 2011. Fans can hear songs from the Aftermath album, such as Take Heart, Go and Rhythms of Grace by visiting the group’s website.
