I am not ashamed

There is a message that needs to be broadcast for all to hear, and one organization is taking charge of getting that message to as many people as possible.

Answers in Genesis (AIG), an apologetics Life dedicated to supporting Christians who defend their faith, has begun a new outreach Life, one of many, known as the “I Am Not Ashamed” campaign.

The campaign was brought to life by the inspirational words that are found in Romans 1:16, “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile” (NIV).

The campaign began on March 1, with commercials airing on Fox News, MSNBC.com and FoxNews.com. Print ads will be featured in USA Today. The I Am Not Ashamed media blitz, airing from March 1 to April 25, will feature men and women from various backgrounds, ages and cultures who are pleased to announce publicly that they are not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ.

“We are using the major and social media outlets to encourage Christians to stand up boldly for their faith,” explains Mark Looy, chief communications officer and cofounder of Answers in Genesis. “We want Christians to stand firm and state that issues such as abortion, gay marriage and other hot-button issues are not right. The difference in this campaign is that we aren’t defending these issues by saying they are part of tradition; we are letting Scripture tell us why marriage is for one man and one woman. We are letting the Scriptures speak directly to the public about these important issues.”

As viewers come across these ads, they will be pointed in the direction of the Web site, www.Iamnotashamed.org, where those who would like to become more involved with the campaign will have the opportunity to upload videos of themselves quoting Scripture directly from the Bible. The hope is to have Christians around the world come together and create what will ultimately become the world’s first online video Bible.

“We are essentially in the process of creating the first online video Bible for the entire world, meaning all 32,000 verses of Scripture are going to be recorded and then uploaded to Iamnotashamed.org,” Looy says.

“Any Christian who is interested will have the opportunity to record four Bible verses and then upload it to our Web site. We need 8,000 people to participate, and we will have reached our goal of having the entire Bible, spoken verse by verse, uploaded to video.”

About Answers in Genesis

Answers in Genesis was started 16 years ago by three men on a mission. Mark Looy, Ken Ham and Mike Zovath wanted to start an apologetics Life that focused a lot of its attention on defending the Book of Genesis. “It just so happens that Genesis is the most attacked book of the 66 books that are in the Bible.

Our goal was to defend this book, the creation of the earth, the flood and so forth,” says Looy. “We want to show Christians and non-Christians that the Bible is trustworthy, that God’s word is true from Genesis to Revelation, and that Christ came to earth 2,000 years ago to die on a cross, and be resurrected so that we can live in eternity with Him forever. Ultimately, we are an apologetics Life that is also evangelistic.”

Years later, with the Answers in Genesis Life taking off, the three decided to open a Creation Museum, located near Cincinnati, Ohio. In less than three years, despite the poor economy, the museum has been blessed by more than 960,000 visitors, far exceeding AIG’s projections. “In visiting the museum, people get to walk through history according to the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. The Creation Museum is a straightforward history lesson, not allegory or poetry, but facts taken directly from the Bible,” Looy describes. “Because the secular world really scrutinizes Genesis, there is a large part of the museum devoted to that particular book. We use state-of-the-art animatronics. We have moving dinosaurs and a planetarium that was designed by one of our Ph.D. scientists that allows for visitors to lie back in their chairs and see things projected on the dome ceiling, from a creationist perspective, not an evolutionary or big bang perspective.”

The Museum also contains a special-effects theater, equipped with shaking seats, mist and wind blowing at visitors, along with every high-tech bell and whistle that one can imagine. “Honestly, our museum attractions are very similar to the attractions that one would come across in Orlando, as far as the technology is concerned. Of course, the evolutionists that visit the museum will dismiss everything that they learn here, but they always let us know how it is one of the best-looking museums and best experiences they have seen,” laughs Looy.

Situated on 75 beautiful acres of land, with walking trails and a petting zoo, the Creation Museum is not to be missed the next time you and your family are near Cincinnati.

With many different outreaches stemming from Answers in Genesis, Looy and the other cofounders are confident that their new I Am Not Ashamed campaign will be well received and a much-needed tool for spreading the Gospel. “It isn’t our opinions about the major social issues that matter; it is about what God’s word says about these topics. This campaign is aimed at truly encouraging the Christian to stand up and say ‘I am not ashamed of what the Bible teaches,'” says Looy.
