Jesus Send Me

Inspired by the phrase “quartet of the vulnerable”, coined in Tim Keller’s latest book Generous Justice, (defined as the character of God being lived out in our lives to positively affect the powerless), the outreach department at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church (CRPC) in Fort Lauderdale, has taken the well known author’s idea and begun to run a passionate race for the underprivileged.. Paying special attention to six groups in particular, their focus rests on the homeless, the widow, the orphan, the sojourner, the unborn and the prisoner.

I was recently afforded the honor of a divine appointment with Joshua Wallace, a modern day missionary with CRPC, who has just returned from his first trip to Kenya, Africa. When I asked Joshua what struck him the most about the mission, his response landed right in the middle of my unprepared heart. He said, “I learned what it means to love.” I was expecting something more to the tune of, “I was amazed at the conditions these people live in” or “I’ve never seen such sorrow, death and illness among children”, but instead, I got four letters – l-o-v-e.
