On Saturday, July 16th, Kat and Sal Taylor said “I do.” While all weddings are special, this one felt different. It tugged at the heart a little more. Why? Because Kat and Sal are part of the homeless community here in Fort Lauderdale, and on that Saturday, they were able to celebrate their love with a beautiful wedding ceremony at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, surrounded by friends.
Kat and Sal have been together for 16 years, and through a series of unexpected circumstances, they found themselves homeless. They have been involved with the benevolence ministry and community at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church for a while, so when they expressed their desire to get married, the church jumped at the opportunity to make that happen. Through the generosity of many, they were able to provide a suit for Sal, a wedding dress, shoes and bouquet for Kat, a wedding cake, a gift card to the Olive Garden and a room at the La Quinta. Kat got ready in the bride’s room, and Tommy DeRosalia, a Benevolence Ministry leader at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, performed the ceremony. Congratulations, Kat and Sal!
