Former Miami Dolphin linebacker, and the 2013 solo inductee to the ‘Fins Ring of Honor, John Offerdahl, will once again be the celebrity host for the 7th Annual FCA Celebrity Golf and Tennis fundraising event presented by the Good News. The event is set for Monday, September 30 at the beautiful Coral Ridge Country Club in Fort Lauderdale.

Offerdahl will share his testimony at the Awards Luncheon of how he accepted Christ as a young man at an FCA Huddle. Offerdahl played for the Dolphins from 1986-1993, during which time he was named to five straight Pro Bowls, as well as named the NFL Rookie of the Year in 1986.

Many former Miami Dolphin players and coaches, plus other NFL Alumni and sports celebrities will be a part of the 7th Annual event teaming up with foursomes for a scramble event set to tee off at 9:00 a.m. sharp. Golf will be followed by an awards luncheon with a silent auction hosted by Palm Beach Autographs, as well as keynote speakers sharing their testimonies including Offerdahl.

This year FCA has teamed up with MatchPoint Ministries, Inc., to provide a chance for tennis players to serve up some aces for Jesus with men’s doubles teams, ladies doubles and mixed doubles round robin events, all being directed by the Spiritually Tough Tennis director and Saint Andrews head tennis coach Scott Williams. A Pro exhibition is also slated with former ATP touring professionals Van Winitsky and Jean Philippe Fleurian, along with WTA ladies professionals Jainy Scheepens and renda Schultz-McCarthy, the current record holder for fastest serve in women’s tennis. The tennis awards will also be part of the golf luncheon at 1:00 p.m.

Since 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) has challenged athletes and coaches to impact the world for Jesus Christ. FCA is cultivating Christian principles in local communities nationwide by encouraging, equipping and empowering others to serve as examples and to make a difference.

Gold Coast FCA in South Florida is headed up by Area Director, James Pendleton, and covers Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, and Okeechobee counties. 148 public schools, in addition to numerous private and Christian schools and eight colleges and universities are in the coverage area, and Gold Coast FCA currently has a ministry presence on 50 plus area campuses.

Pendleton’s vision is simple in South Florida. He states, “Our goal is for every student and every faculty on every campus to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ!”
