The Caring Place at Miami Rescue Mission | Broward Outreach Centers served hundreds of turkey dinners with all the fixings this Thanksgiving to South Florida’s needy, hungry and homeless. Many took advantage of getting a shower, having a health checkup and a haircut plus they received bags with clothing and hygiene items. Over 300 volunteers were on site at Broward and Miami serving this thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving meals for the needy

Both centers (Miami and Broward) alike at The Caring Place had guests fed on the street in our original style block party fashion, closing down the street in front of the shelters and feeding those that were hurting. Potential Church provided all the turkeys that were cooked and given out to needy families through their Flip-Us-A-Bird event. During the meal there was festive music playing and a special Thanksgiving message was given at each campus to bless those hungry and hurting we served. Both campuses had “Intake Tables” so that homeless guests could enroll into our Regeneration Programs, thus ending their homeless state on Thanksgiving Day. Over 40 men and women decided to come in off the streets. In addition to this Thanksgiving Day celebration, The Caring Place gave out over 500 turkeys and boxes of food and drinks to at-risk families on November 18th.

Rev. Ron Brummitt, President of The Caring Place said, “We are so thankful for our sponsors, supporters and every day giving partners for giving financially so our daily operations are made possible.”
