New Broward County Library College Club Helps Students Build a Bridge to College

image004Too often high school seniors intend to go to college, but don’t end up there in the fall. Parents and students worry they can’t complete the college admissions process, can’t pay the bills, or can’t handle the classes. Broward County Library’s EMU (Educate, Motivate, YOU) College Club is designed to help high school seniors and their parents build a roadmap to college with support from trained counselors.

The EMU College Clubs, located at six convenient Broward County Library locations, will feature two-hour long biweekly club meetings for students and biweekly counseling sessions for students and/or parents. Club meetings will cover a variety of college related topics including financial aid, online college portals, scholarships, bills, orientation, deadlines, and college life. Monthly special events will feature informational speakers, college fairs, and morale building activities. In addition, club participants will have free access to tutoring, computers, databases, digital downloads, college apps and more. Regular Club participants will also be eligible to win prizes and incentives. The EMU College Club will be here to support you and your student from March – August, on evenings, weekends, and all summer, up to the moment your student arrives successfully at college!

Club meetings begin the week of March 1st and continue thru August.
Weekly meetings will alternate between club activities and counseling sessions.
