Ocean’s Edge School of Worship Presents

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida – May 10, 2011 – On Friday and Saturday, June 3 and 4, 2011, Ocean’s Edge School of Worship (OE), a Life of Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale, will be celebrating their fifth year of training Christian artists, musicians and worship leaders at a free event called The Show. The Show is a showcase of the artists and worship leaders, which is consistently remembered as a highlight of the alumni’s experience during their time at OE. It is an opportunity for many students to apply skills and knowledge they have acquired by entertaining the audience with their original songs.

Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale’s Senior Pastor Bob Coy and Worship Pastor Clay Hecocks perceived a need for modern worship leaders and skillful musicians, which cultivated the vision to create a school of worship. “As the Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale, I am continuously made aware of the desperate need for spiritually sound, musically and technically gifted believers who can serve the body of Christ in their communities with their talents,” said Pastor Bob Coy. “Ocean’s Edge School of Worship was created to equip the next generation of Christian leaders with a Life mindset, a practical skill set, and provide an opportunity for deep spiritual growth in a community setting.”

Throughout the school year, the college-age students create a musical community through songwriting and performing. As a result, Ocean’s Edge Music, Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale’s music label, produced two albums called You Claim Me and All I Want, which featured the creative talents of the graduating class of 2011. Doug Farrar, the Director of Ocean’s Edge School of Worship explained how, “The Show is the culmination of everything we do at Ocean’s Edge. The spiritual, leadership, and musical training all come together as the staff and students prepare an evening of Culture and worship that represents and displays the students’ growth and achievements during their time here. It is a spectacular event, not only for the audience, but also for the OE students and staff!”

After five years of training up the next generation of leaders, The Show will be an exciting milestone for the OE staff and for the 1,200 people who have attended this annual event. Both You Claim Me and All I Want albums will be released at this special occasion, where the students will perform a number of the originals and cover songs. The two nights of The Show will be held at Calvary Chapel Theatre at 7 pm on June 3 and 8 pm on June 4. Doors open thirty minutes prior to both performances. This free event is open to the public and all ages are welcome.
