Offerdahl Headlines YMCA April Event

The YMCA of South Palm Beach County will be staging their largest fundraising event, the annual YMCA Inspiration Breakfast on Tuesday, April 8 from 8am to 10am. The 12th annual breakfast, hosted at the Boca Raton Resort & Club, will help raise funds for the YMCA’s financial assistance program which provides everyone, regardless of income, the ability to participate in their programs.

The event will gather business and community leaders for a breakfast of inspiration and motivation with a special keynote speech from former professional football player of the Miami Dolphins and owner of Offerdahl’s Café Grill, John Offerdahl. CBS 12 News Anchor, Liz Quirantes will once again emcee the annual breakfast.

The YMCA changed the event name this year from the “Annual Prayer Breakfast” to “The YMCA Inspiration Breakfast—A Celebration of the Spirit and Mission of the Y” as it more accurately reflects the event’s schedule of activities.

“The YMCA is thrilled to be hosting our upcoming Inspiration Breakfast in April with John Offerdahl as the speaker,” said Richard Pollock, President and CEO of the YMCA of South Palm Beach County. “Because so many community members and leaders attend, it’s a great way to showcase the impact that the YMCA has on our local area.”

John Offerdahl, the YMCA Inspiration Breakfast keynote speaker, is a five-time Pro-Bowler and former Miami Dolphins linebacker. The South Florida resident played for the Dolphins for over seven years and now owns Offerdahl’s Café Grill, which has seven successful locations in the area.

Offerdahl was inducted into the Mid-American Conference Hall of Fame this year. Additionally, on October 31, 2013 Offerdahl was added as the 26th member of the Miami Dolphins Honor Roll. Offerdahl, former Chairman of the National Christian Foundation, also recently hosted his annual “Gridiron Grill-Off” raising funds for several local charities as a community outreach event at the Pompano Amphitheatre.
The Inspiration Breakfast event is considered the largest annual event that the YMCA of South Palm Beach County hosts. This year’s co-chairs for the event are Linda Spielmann, Regional Sales Manager of the Seagate Hotel, and Gloria Hosh, Marketing & PR manager of Cristino Fine Jewelry.

Past featured keynote speakers of this event include: U.S. gymnast Shannon Miller, Tim Tebow’s parents, Wally “Famous” Amos, Amway co-founder Rich DeVos, Orlando Magic owner and former Florida State University (FSU) football coach Bobby Bowden.

The YMCA’s mission of furthering youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in community members of all ages is supported and funded by this rewarding event.
