Palm Beach Features Allstate Foundation and Points of Light Campaign

allstate foundationLocal Allstate agents and United Way of Palm Beach County community volunteers educated hundreds of citizens and helped them build free disaster preparedness kits at the Mall at Wellington Green in June. The free kits included a hand-crank flashlight, first aid kit, whistles and other items proven to keep people safe and prepared.
According to Adelphi University, nearly half of Americans lack emergency supplies for use in the event of a disaster. This same study indicated more than half of parents do not have a designated meeting place in case of a disaster. Many families aren’t even aware of what an emergency kit should include and where you should store it in the household.
“The bottom line is simple, we must be prepared,” said Anne-Marie Batten, local Allstate agency owner. “Taking time to learn about putting together a disaster preparedness kit will help during some of the most difficult times in our lives. This campaign can affect so many in a positive way before the next unforeseen disaster.”
