PEMBROKE PINES CHURCH AND NORTH MIAMI CAMPUS HOST ANNUAL CHRISTMAS EVENT

“Christmas at the Oasis” is an annual and free event organized by Oasis Church in Pembroke Pines, FL and beginning this year also at Oasis Church in North Miami, FL. The event, which was first introduced in 1994, is known for its array of Christmas lights – over half a million of them. The Christmas lights serve as another part of the church’s missions outreach, hoping to engage those lonely and hurting during the holidays. The event is family-friendly with several activities for children of all ages.

Oasis Church currently holds the Guinness World Record™ for largest display of nativities on location at the Pines campus and has held the record since 2010, a title that has been featured in numerous publications and television news sources. This holiday season Oasis is endeavoring to break a new world record: to surpass the current world record of 502 live, lit, Christmas trees.

The newest world record challenge, called “Trees of Hope” is more than a record-breaking challenge, however. The trees donated are sponsored by individuals and families who happily practice yuletide generosity. Trees sponsored will go to families in need in the community who would otherwise celebrate Christmas without a tree this season.

Additional activities for families at the Pines campus include an ice skating rink*, an animated wall of lights, train rides*, outdoor holiday films, and arts and crafts. Activities will be held December 5th to 8th, 12th to 15th and 19th to 25th, each evening from 7 to 10 p.m. (*small fee for these selected activities)

The North Miami campus will host events including a live nativity, a select portion of the World Record winning nativity display, arts and crafts, family movies and Christmas lights displays on December 6th and 7th, 13th and 14th, and 20th through the 21st from 7 to 9 p.m. Special snowfall is predicted on the forecast at both campuses each night the event is held!

Social media fans on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are encouraged to take photos on their visits and use the hashtag #oasischristmas.

After observing nearly 50,000 attendees in 2012, the church is expecting to host thousands of guests again this year. “I am excited to welcome our community for the 19th Christmas of our gift to the community of south Broward and North Dade! Hundreds of volunteers have spent thousands of hours working since last February to prepare this Christmas at the Oasis just for our guests. My hope is this will lift spirits and bring “Hope” to all those who attend this year.” -Guy Melton, Senior/Founding Pastor of Oasis Church

All activities hosted are non-denominational and open to all religious backgrounds.

The Christmas lights switch is officially flipped on December 5th at Pembroke Pines and on December 6th at North Miami. A countdown is located on the webpage www.oasischristmas.com along with various information about the events taking place.

Christmas Eve service times are scheduled for 4, 5:30 and 11 p.m. at the Pembroke Pines campus and 5 and 11 p.m. at the North Miami Campus.

Oasis Church, Pembroke Pines campus, is located at 12201 SW 14 Street in Pembroke Pines, FL 33025 on Flamingo Rd, one block north of Pembroke Rd.
