Charles Bender, executive director of Place of Hope, was appointed to the Board of Directors for the Economic Council of Palm Beach County, Inc. He will assist in leading the development of the Economic Council in partnership with other corporate and non-profit leaders. The Council’s mission is to create an environment in Palm Beach County that helps business prosper.

As executive director since 1999, Bender has guided the operations of the largest child welfare organization in Palm Beach County, which has recently expanded into Martin County. Place of Hope supporters and partners include several of the county’s largest enterprises. Bender’s ability to merge private and corporate philanthropy with the needs of local foster children has enabled Place of Hope to serve hundreds of children daily on its campuses.

“The Economic Council represents the business side of the county, but all good business has a heart and wants to give back to the community that supports it,” Bender said. “I hope through my appointment that I can lend to the Board whatever expertise my experiences and amazing relationships with the business partners of Place of Hope have taught me. I’m honored to have this opportunity.”
