Polo of Boca Raton donates $127,700 to Lake Worth and Delray Beach charities

The Polo Club of Boca Raton demonstrated the power of true generosity recently by donating more than $126,700 to two local charities. In late May, Members and the Club’s COO made two check presentations – one for $63,773.95 to Delray Beach-based AVDA, Inc. (Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse) and one for $63,926.45 to Lake Worth-based Forgotten Soldiers Outreach. Representatives from each non-profit organization knew they were receiving a donation from Polo Club, as beneficiaries of the community’s inaugural “Polo Gives Back” Week. However, no one knew the amount until the checks were presented. For AVDA, Polo’s gift meant the ability to pay down the construction costs of a brand new emergency services center, where victims of domestic abuse and their children seek safe haven. The eight-bedroom, nine and half-bathroom home can house up to 45 people in a confidential location, while they receive care from AVDA staff. Because of the gift from The Polo Club, AVDA only needs to raise an additional $76,000 to pay off the loan on the building.
