Lacrosse: A New South Florida Favorite

Lacrosse is one of the oldest team sports in North America. There is evidence that the traditional Native Americans originated stickball as early as the 17th century in Canada, which later evolved into what we know today as lacrosse. Lacrosse traditionally had many different purposes. It was used to settle inter-tribal disputes, to toughen young warriors for combat, for recreation as part of festivals, and even for religious reasons to collectively pray for something and give pleasure to the Creator. In 1876, Queen Victoria witnessed an exhibition game and was impressed saying, “The game of lacrosse is pretty to watch.” […]

Gluten Free and Delicious!

By: Kyra Bussanich More than ever, people understand that our bodies just weren’t designed to handle the amount of processed flour found in many of today’s food. Some people with vague, undiagnosed illnesses feel better after cutting out gluten, a protein in flour-based foods. Many Americans, including professional athletes and celebrities such as Zooey Deschanel and men’s tennis leader Djovak Nokovic, say they look and perform better since dropping gluten from their diets. If you are someone who doubts that gluten free can be delicious, try the following recipe before making your determination final: Apple Crisp 6 large tart apples […]

One Way Love

Of the six books local pastor Tullian Tchividjian has written, including the bestselling and award winning Jesus + Nothing = Everything, he considers his most recent project “the book I was born to write.” One Way Love, which is being released through publisher David C. Cook on October 1, is Tchividjian’s self-described “gospel bomb” in which he masterfully weaves together rock solid theology with engaging – and sometimes brutally honest – stories of how the one-way love of God has transformed him during times of personal struggle and weakness. The endorsements found in the first few pages of One Way […]

Hypocrisy of the World’s Game

Many find soccer’s most beautiful quality to be its ability to spark unity. The world is united when nations put their differences aside and send their national teams to face international opponents for the ultimate prize at the Olympics or the World Cup. Unity is fostered when ball clubs all over the world stack their rosters with players from all walks of life – regardless of race, creed or religion. Many of the world’s premier clubs have rosters with diverse shades of skin and foreigners making up about half the team. Yet, ironically, bigotry is prominent in the sport and […]
