We Could All Use Some Good News

News travels fast, especially bad news. When we watch the news on television, listen to it on the radio or read it in the papers, we can easily get caught up emotionally.  I remember February 14th, 2018, when 17 people got killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. I watched my wife cry for hours on the couch watching TV. We can talk about 911, natural sicknesses, loss of loved ones, earthquakes in Haiti, Italy, Japan and most recently Turkey and Syria; all these incidents are bad news and make us sad. This confirms the fact that we could all […]

Let Us Pray

“Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:16).   The Bible makes it clear that prayer is to be one of the distinguishing marks of those who are disciples of Christ; the people of God are a people of prayer. And what is prayer? Prayer is both a privilege and a command. In essence, prayer is simply a conversation with God . . . a running conversation with God that should continue throughout the day, talking about anything and everything. That’s right — anything and everything! Clement of Alexandria once described prayer as “happy company with God.” The Creator of the universe […]

Franklin Graham: This Present Darkness

Darkness is spreading across the land. As the New Year got underway, I posted this on social media amid the flood of New Year’s resolutions: “As we begin 2023, the world we live in seems to be imploding. A brutal war is bringing suffering and death in Ukraine with every day that passes. Senseless violence is rampant across the United States. Anti-God agendas that once hid in the darkness are now proudly out in the open, demanding acceptance. Developed nations are being overtaken by socialism, removing God from anything and everything in the public square. And if you think things […]

Make an Honest Evaluation

“The words of Nehemiah the son of Hachaliah. It came to pass in the month of Chislev, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the citadel, that Hanani one of my brethren came with men from Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews who had escaped, who had survived the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem. And they said to me, ‘The survivors who are left from the captivity in the province are there in great distress and reproach. The wall of Jerusalem is also broken down, and its gates are burned with fire’” (Nehemiah 1:1–3). Honest Evaluation, the […]

Contentment’s Hiding Place

I have discovered some unique things from this place of contentment. When you are looking for satisfaction in imperfect things like a church service, a spouse, children, homemaking and job performance, it’s nearly impossible to escape the loop of complaining and bitterness. You will evaluate everything, all the time, because you want “everything” to become your preference. A content soul in Jesus is not searching because it has already found him. It’s settled and unshaken by the methods of lifestyles around it. This soul has discovered the person who holds contentment and has traded everything in order to remain in […]

Families Needed to Stand with Kids in Crisis

In the last 25 years, 4KIDS has been privileged to impact over 30,000 lives thanks to the way the Lord has moved and mobilized the body of Christ and so many in the communities we serve. When impact reaches such great heights, it can be easy to lose touch of the crisis at hand. There are too many children and families who are in crisis today, who are waiting for someone to help them. In many ways, the crisis is growing, strengthening and ever-changing.    Our community’s crisis Right now, in our immediate community of Broward and Palm Beach County, […]

For God So Loved You!

As we celebrate Valentine’s Day this month, I would like to share a word of cosmic comfort with you from the One who loves you exceedingly abundantly above all that you could ever ask or imagine. The apostle Paul prayed that we would be able to “to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ” (Ephesians 3:18). In other words, the love of God in Christ Jesus is beyond your imagination! “For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal […]

Home Run

We are told that in order to have a successful and orderly existence it would be best to “touch all bases.” And now, as I am rounding third, my mind keeps insisting on taking periodic trips down memory lane, permitting one final glance at the disasters and triumphs of an interesting life. One undisputed fact is that I have garnered a substantial number of “followers” despite a rather sketchy background and a disturbing lack of tact. Conversely, through it all, I can count on one hand those individuals that have left an indelible mark in my life and without whom […]

Consider the Heavens

“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?” (Psalm 8:3-4).   My love for astronomy originated from childhood when I spent many clear nights gazing up into the night sky and marveling at its vastness and beauty. I was (and still am) completely overwhelmed and humbled by our omnipotent Heavenly Father, whose incredible power brought the universe into being. Only a sovereign, mighty God can create such a masterpiece!   Vastness of […]
