South Florida Supports Disaster Relief Effort to Haiti

Haiti has been struck by yet another natural disaster, only six years after being rocked by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake that leveled Port-au-Prince and Jacmel. The same Hurricane Matthew that barely missed the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area and came somewhat closer to North Florida, slammed into the southern peninsula of Haiti as a Category 4 storm, bringing almost complete devastation to many cities and towns, destroying many of the crops in the western plains of Haiti’s bread basket, and killing over 1,000 people. Local pastors and church leaders are stunned by the catastrophic damage of its impact. Streets have become […]

Moroccan Christians risk persecution with YouTube testimonies

(WNS)–In a new series of YouTube podcasts, Moroccan Christians are stepping out of the shadows, showing their faces, and telling their stories. Speaking to their countrymen, they proclaim themselves “Moroccan and Christian.” The public testimonies counter the common view that to be Moroccan is to be Muslim and that all Christians living in Morocco are foreigners, not natives. The small religious minority faces community and government persecution. In one video, a woman named Iman says her husband’s relatives assumed she was foreign-born because they knew she was a Christian, according to Moroccan World News (MWN).  “We don’t know what might […]

Jesus’ Rebuke of Three Cities

“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light” (Isaiah 9:2). The common application of Isaiah 9:2 is a spiritual one in which the “people walking in darkness” are those who lived prior to Christ and without knowledge of his saving power. And while that is a valid spiritual application, this verse is actually referring to the people of a specific geographical area: the land of Zebulun and Naphtali, known as the Galilee of the Gentiles. Upon them a great light would shine when, according to Isaiah 6, “unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son […]

Local Churches Send Youth to Spread the Gospel

This summer, churches are sending people all over the world — to Germany, Brazil, India, France, England and many other countries to spread the gospel. Among them, Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church is sending youth to Costa Rica and Christ Fellowship youth are traveling to Bolivia to answer the call to go into the world and make disciples. It is an opportunity for middle and high school students to get out of their comfort zone and put their faith into practice.   From Coral Ridge to Costa Rica Costa Rica, a former colony of the Spanish Empire, has a huge religious […]

The Lord My Stronghold

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold” (Psalm 18:2 NIV). Psalm 18 is said to be a Psalm of David that was written when the Lord delivered him from the hand of Saul. We read about just such a day in 1 Samuel 24:22 where it says that after Saul and David made an agreement that “…Saul went home, but David and his men went up to the stronghold.” A stronghold during the time of the […]

Local Missionary Distributes Goods in Sudan and Ecuador

“While we were packing to head to South Sudan to serve those in need, a 7.8 earthquake struck Ecuador on April 16, 2016,” said Mark Mosely of Pompano Beach-based Cross International where Mosely is director of Gifts in Kind (GIK). Mosely also serves as co-chair for the Global Relief Alliance. While he was launching a project to respond to a man-made humanitarian crisis, a natural catastrophe resulting in human tragedy struck. Mosely juggled the management of GIK relief responses to two different disasters while in transit to and on the ground in war-torn South Sudan, the world’s youngest country. […]

Few Syrian Christians Get Asylum in U.S., Despite Genocide Declaration

(WNS)–Two months after the Obama administration called out militant terror group Islamic State (ISIS) for committing genocide against Christians in Iraq and Syria, refugee data show those finding a safe haven in the United States are not the ones suffering the most persecution. Last year, President Barack Obama set the goal of bringing 10,000 Syrian refugees to the United States in fiscal year 2016. So far, the State Department is on track to fall well short of that number, with only about 2,700 successfully resettled. State Department figures show 499 Syrian refugees have resettled in America this month, but not […]

Bearing Witness: Exposing the Reality of Modern Day Genocide

It was not so long ago that six million Jews perished in the Holocaust at the hands of the Nazi regime. Many stayed quiet for so long — until it was too late. Jewish people lost entire families — mothers and fathers, sons and daughters. Entire communities were wiped out. And since that great atrocity, the world has been educated on the reality of evil and mass murder. It is for this reason that the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C. continues to shout, “Never again!” and has not only taken on the great task of educating the […]

Jesus’ Final Days in Jerusalem

One of the most memorable moments of any tour to Israel is standing on the Mount of Olives and looking across the valley at the Eastern Gate of the Temple Mount. One can’t help but imagine the magnificent Temple of King Herod standing there or Jesus walking through the Eastern Gate as He most assuredly did, and according to scripture, He will most likely do again. But, any casual observer will notice that the Eastern Gate has been sealed shut. Almost 500 years ago, when the Turks conquered Jerusalem under the leadership of Suleiman the Magnificent, he commanded that the […]
