Twenty Talented Young Women with Disabilities Competed in a One-of-a Kind Pageant

Twenty talented young women with various developmental disabilities competed in the 5th Annual Miss Arc Broward Pageant presented by Holland & Knight on Sunday, November 12th at Parker Playhouse.  Contestants, ranging from ages 6 -17 years old, showcased their individuality in the categories of evening wear, talent, and personality for the panel of judges and attendees.  Publix Super Markets, Inc. Media and Community Relations Manager Nicole Krauss and NBC6 South Florida Morning Anchor Sheli Muñiz served as the event’s emcees and held an inspiring question and answer session with the 20 contestants.

Miss Arc Broward Genesis Altamiranda and Little Miss Arc Broward Saylor Saylor Burgoyne

 

More than 700 attendees watched as Genesis Altamiranda was crowned as 2018 Miss Arc Broward and Saylor Burgoyne was crowned as 2018 Little Miss Arc Broward by 2017 Miss Florida USA, Linette De Los Santos and 2017 Miss Florida Teen USA, Victoria DiSorbo.  Both girls will represent their fellow contestants throughout the year at various community events.

“For more than 60 years, Arc Broward has worked to change the perception of individuals with disabilities and life challenges throughout the South Florida community,” said Jessica Rodriguez Chief Marketing & Development Officer for Arc Broward.
