In true Hollywood awards show style, nearly 750 corporate executives, community leaders and members of the non-profit sector attended the sold-out 6th Annual South Florida Community Care Network Non-Profit Awards hosted by Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and presented by 2-1-1 Broward on February 26. The prestigious awards honor the work of Broward County’s non-profit organizations and leaders and the impact they have on the community. The winners in each category received an award statue and $1,000 for their non-profit organizations. The finalists in each category were awarded $500 each.
The categories and winners were: Non-Profit Organization of the Year, HANDY; Non-Profit Organization Staff Leader of the Year: Emilio Benitez – ChildNet; Non-Profit Board Leader of the Year, Nancy Daly – Habitat for Humanity; Non-Profit Organization of the Year – The Arts, Fort Lauderdale’s Children’s Theater; Non-Profit Organization of the Year – Collaboration, United Way Broward County Commission on Substance Abuse (in collaboration with Broward Sheriff’s Office, Broward Health, Broward Addiction Recovery and Fort Lauderdale Police Department); Non-Profit Organization of the Year – Innovation, PACE School for Girls; Non-Profit Organization of the Year – Rising Star, Taylor’s Closet; Collective Impact for Youth Award, FLITE Center; Community Choice Award, Take Stock in Children of Broward County; and Lifetime Achievement Award, Frank Sacco – Memorial Healthcare System.
